Frequent operation may reflect incoming water, a control issue or discharge water returning to the pit. A pump that runs without moving water needs attention. Do not reach into energized equipment; arrange a system assessment.
Three things to check
- Is the pump cycling, running continuously or failing to start?
- Where does the discharge terminate?
- Is a backup pump, battery or high-water alarm present?
Prepare for an assessment
Record the affected locations, the timing of incidents and the weather. Gather information about existing systems. Take photos only from safe areas and mention previous repairs.
General guidance cannot replace an assessment of your property. Options depend on access, local requirements and the existing system.
