Overflow can follow blocked outlets, debris, damaged gutter sections or a layout that cannot manage the runoff. Observe from ground level and arrange safe access for inspection. Consider where the downspout sends the water too.
Three things to check
- Does overflow occur along the gutter or at the outlet?
- Are joints, fasteners or downspouts damaged?
- Does discharged water run back toward the foundation?
Prepare for an assessment
Record the affected locations, the timing of incidents and the weather. Gather information about existing systems. Take photos only from safe areas and mention previous repairs.
General guidance cannot replace an assessment of your property. Options depend on access, local requirements and the existing system.
